By Ruth Chayinda:The Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- has dispelled a story indicating that the Authority paid Konkola Copper Mine -KCM- about 95 Million Kwacha in tax refunds to pay legal fees.ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda says the Authority did not make such a payment to KCM.Mr. Chanda says the story in one of the daily tabloids is not factual. He explained that KCM owes ZRA more than what the Authority owes it.Mr. Chanda further said all duly audited and verified VAT claims due for payment will be offsets against the company’s outstanding liabilities. He said KCM will continue to be treated like any other business in so far as tax matters are concerned. This is in a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka.
