Super League giants Zanaco Football Club have announced six new players who have completed their switch to Sunset Stadium to beef up their squad ahead of the start of the 2019/2020 season in August.
The bankers who had a porous defense in the transitional season have acquired services of four defenders namely Ziyo Tembo, Tiberius Lombard and Kebson Kamanga. Ziyo, A former Zanaco captain returns for a second stint after his one-year contract with Saudi Arabian second division side Al Shoula FC came to an end in June.
In his first stint, The 34 year old spent 11 seasons of his career at Sunset Stadium winning three Zambian Super Leagues (2009, 2012, 2016) and one Barclays Cup (2017).
For young left back Kebson Kamanga, He makes his return to Sunset Stadium after being released in 2017. He joined Nkwazi were he impressed before breaking into coach Beston Chambeshi’s Zambia U23 national team squad.
Lombard joins from troubled Lusaka dynamos. The Namibian center-back has been a crucial part of the Elite back line. The other defender that has joined the bankers is Congolese, Belchance Makiesa from Nkwazi.
Others who have joined the club are winger Mwansa Nsofwa from Lusaka Dynamos and striker Emmanuel Okutu from Kabwe Warriors. Young striker Damiano has also returned after one year and a half loan deal with Forest Rangers.
Okutu was Kabwe Warriors top goalscorer last season with four goals while Mwansa Nsofwa did not play a lot of games at Lusaka dynamos and looks set to regain his Kabwe Warriors form.
Damiano Kola’s contract runs until 2022 while the rest of the new additions have signed two year contracts except Ziyo who has penned a one year deal.
Zanaco have now signed eight new players for the 2019/20 season, including Lawrence Chungu who was signed earlier this year.
According to Zamfoot crew sources at Sunset Stadium, The bankers are far from being done with the transfer market as a number of new players are still on their way and some players will be released.
