ZICTA refutes Vodafone entry to Zambia
THE Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority- (ZICTA) has refuted speculations from the general public that Mobile Broadband Zambia Limited Trading as Vodafone Zambia is entering the market as a voice provider.
ZICTA through its Public Relations Manager- Ms Ngabo Nankonde reassured members of the public through a statement that it has not issued a license permitting any entity apart from MTN, Airtel and Zamtel to provide voice services to the general public.
“Such a license is an individual license which, under the current licensing framework, is used through a competitive process” read part of Nankondes media statement.
Ms Nakonde further more emphasized that Mobile Broadband Zambia Limited Trading as Vodafone Zambia must not be confused to be Vodacom which currently has no license to operate in Zambia.
There has been speculation and rumors on the possible introduction of a fourth Mobile network provider through the general public and stakeholders.
