Zesco United mourn the passing of former Shockers chairman, Kapembwa

Super League side Zesco United have been saddened by the death of Maxwell Kapembwe, A former Chairman of United’s feeder club Zesco Shockers Football club.

ZESCO United Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Richard Mulenga has described the death of Kapembwa as a big loss to the club in a press statement by Communications manager Desmond Katongo which was made available to the ZamFoot Crew.

“It is with profound sadness that I learned of the tragic passing on of former Zesco Shockers Chairman, Maxwell Kapembwa. Kapembwa has played a significant role in the development of ZESCO United Football Club. He was particularly instrumental in the development of one of our feeder teams, Zesco Shockers.

On behalf of ZESCO United Football Club management, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to Kapembwa’s family, friends, and loved ones. It is my hope that, in some way, our words of support may help bring some peace and solace in this time of sadness,” Mulenga said.

Kapembwa past on yesterday at Ndola Central Hospital following a short illness after being referred from Solwezi. The funeral for the late Kapembwa is in Kitwe.

At the time of his death, Kapembwa was a finance manager for Community Health Education Sports Initiative Zambia, A non-government organization, and was also club secretary for Central Province Division three side Kang’omba Power Stars.
