Zesco in visa blow

MULWANDA LUPIYA, Ndola
ZESCO United have suffered a huge setback ahead of today’s CAF Champions League decisive encounter against Swallows after four key players were denied entry into South Africa because they did not have visas.
The quartet are Kenyan midfielder Anthony Akumu, Congolese defender Marcel Kalonda Burundian duo of goalkeeper Dieudonne Ntibahezwa and midfielder Enock Sabumukama.
“During the 2018 pre-season training period in South Africa, the four players were declared prohibited immigrants by the immigration authorities due to the two extra days the team spent in that country. Zesco, however, appealed the decision on arrival to relevant authorities and we are yet to be advised on the outcome.
“Since the game will be played in eSwatini, and not in South Africa, the issue of the visa did not arise when making travel arrangements,” Zesco chief executive officer Richard Mulenga said in a statement yesterday.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
