ZAVA to hold national selection tourney

By SAMUEL LUKHANDA –
The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) will this weekend hold a national selection tournament slated for the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka.
The three-day tournament will be used as a qualifier for the Confederations of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone Six games taking place in Namibia this December.
ZAVA general secretary Charles Haambote confirmed in an interview and extended an invitation to all clubs in the country to take part in the volleyball feast.
“We will be holding a three-day national tournament at the weekend which will be used as a qualifier to the Zone Six club games slated for Namibia later in the year.
“I invite all the teams in the country to come and take part in this tournament which should be taken very seriously as it is a selection tournament.
“I extend the invitation to the fans as well to come and watch exciting volleyball at OYDC,” said Hambote.
At the end of the tournament, six teams will punch tickets to the regional volleyball party. The top three women’s and men’s teams will have a chance to represent Zambia at the CAVB Zone Six club games.
