Zanaco go top, Nkana and Power suffer defeats as Forest humiliate Lusaka Dynamos

Zanaco Football club has reclaimed the top spot temporarily following a 2-0 win over Nkwazi while Nkana and Power Dynamos both suffered defeats at the hands of Kabwe Warriors and Buildcon respectively.

Zanaco made a short trip to Nkoloma Stadium to face Nkwazi in a Lusaka derby and was aiming to reclaim the top spot be it temporarily given that Zesco United will be in action tomorrow.

The Bankers started strong and were up just two minutes into the match thanks to a Boyd Musonda strike from outside the 18-yard area, chipping Charles Muntanga who seemed to be off his line, Nkwazi tried to level matters but Zanaco held on to go to the break with a one-nil lead.

Seventeen minutes into the second half, Abraham Siankombo produced a fine piece of skill first racing towards the Nkwazi penalty area before beating a player with a dummy and scoring a brilliant strike to extend the Bankers lead. Nkwazi were reduced to ten men with eleven minutes to go after Pride Mwansa received a direct red card following a two-footed challenge on Chisamba Lungu.

The win takes Zanaco to the summit with 36 points two above Zesco United who have a game against Lumwana Radiants tomorrow at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

In the second match at the same venue, Forest Rangers put aside their huge defeat at the hands of Zesco United to record a 3-0 win over Lusaka Dynamos.

Quadri Kola put Fole Malembe in the lead, An own goal from Joseph Chewe, and a close-range finish from Peter Mwangani to record an emphatic 3-0 win and move to third place while Lusaka Dynamos drop to sixth place on the log table.

In Kitwe, Nkana suffered their second successive defeat following a 2-0 loss at the hands of Kabwe Warriors. Prince Mumba and Clement Mundia scored for the magnificent people’s team.

The win takes Kabwe Warriors to fifth place while Nkana drops back into the relegation zone.

Buildcon came from a goal down to beat Power Dynamos 2-1. Skipper Eric Owusu scored a late freekick to win the match for Team Kopala. Kennedy Musonda put Power Dynamos in the lead while Najeeb Abbas leveled matters for the Boyd Mulwanda tutored outfit.

Green Buffaloes came alive in Choma and thrashed Green Eagles 3-1. Buffaloes scored through David Sakala, Friday Samu, and Aubrey Chellah while Anos Tembo scored for the Kawale Boys.

Graven Chitalu scored the only goal of the game as Indeni beat Kitwe United, 1-0 at the cage, Indeni Sports complex.
