The 2019/2020 season Curtain Raiser match, The Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu Charity Shield will see Zesco United and Zanaco renew their rivalry on Saturday, 17th August at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka as they go head to head.

Zanaco defender Taonga Bwembya who is the captain of the side described the match as important and wants the team to win it to start the season on a good note.

‘’It is a very important match for the team after being off competitive assignments for a while. We need to start on a good note by winning. We are taking it very seriously, and we need to get a positive result on Saturday,” Taonga told Zanaco Media.

Bwembya believes its time for the bankers to revenge the 4-1 loss they suffered at the hands of the Ndola giants in the final of the 2018 ABSA Cup.

“Of course we have to revenge the loss that we suffered in Ndola more especially that now we are playing in Lusaka,” he said.

Zanaco has been busy in the offseason with a lot of new acquisition to boost their squad ahead of the new season. Taonga feels the new additions will help the team beat Zesco United on Saturday.

“New players have been brought in and the technical bench has been boosted with a psychical trainer and another coach, I believe that will add value to the team and that we are in a better position to be victorious come Saturday,” he said.

Zesco United and Zanaco will square off at 15:00hrs with Division One playoffs losing side National Assembly and Young Green Eagles facing off in the curtain-raiser at 13:00hrs.
