…Mupeta says 500 more clients to receive bicycles

Lusaka (10-04-19) The Zambia Telecommunication Corperation (Zamtel) has today hand over the first ten bicycles of the 50 luck winners of the “Let’s Go Zamtel” promotion which was launched about two weeks ago.
Zamtel Managing Director Sydey Mupeta told journalist at the handover ceremony on Wednesday morning that the company he head is expected to hand over 500 bicycles to subscribers that will take part in the promotion which will run for three months.
He explained that the first draw conducted last Friday recorded 50 winners.
“Todau, we have invited 10 winners from Lusaka to not only officially receive their bicycles  but also to celebrate with us in this joyous moment.”
He added that the remaining winners will receive their rewards in the coming days in Zamtel regional offices.
Besides receiving the bicycles Mupeta explained, Zamtel is giving up to 50 on net minutes and 500 MB for only K20.
He said this amount qualifies one for 20 entry points into the promotion.
One can qualify to enter the promotion using 50 ngwee.
He promised that Zamtel will continue to be innovative in its quest to reposition itself as a prime driver of digital services in Zambia.
With the support of government, Zamtel will continue to create and deliver a world class communication solutions to the Zambian market.
And Transport and Communication Permanent Secretary Misheck Lungu commended Zamtel for coming up with an innovative promotion that seek to increase the use of bicycles as a mode of transportation for business and personal use.
He said the choice of giving away bicycles in the win it bicycles promotion could serve as a form of exercise for the people and will help to prevent non communicable diseases.
He regretted that Zambia today is grappling an increase in the number of none communicable diseases which could easily be cured with exercises.
He Hope’s that with the introduction of bicycles, the problem of non communicable diseases.
He asked the Read Developmental Agency and other agencies responsible for development of road infr5to always consider the interest of cyclists when developing the road infrastructure in the country.
He said president Edgar Lungu has already take a lead through  regular exercises and urged the people to follow the challenge from the Head of State.
The gesture by the Zamtel is highly commendable as a way of appreciating the support that the company continue to receive from its customers.”
