Zambians Encouraged To Study The Bill Of Rights

Governance Activist Isaac Mwanza has encouraged Zambians to unite and ensure the enactment of the Bill of Rights to allow prisoners take part in the electoral process.

Mwanza says the Bill of Rights being subjected to the referendum will nullify the provisions of the Electoral Act forbidding prisoners from voting in elections.

He says Zambians musttherefore vote YES in the Referendum to enable prisoners to vote and enjoy the benefits of the law.

Mwanza explains that once Zambians vote YES in the referendum, it will open the question on whether the prisoners’ right to vote is incompatible with being in custody, a matter that can only be determined by the Constitutional Court.
