ZAMBIAN TENNIS PLAYER GET U.S DEAL

Zambian Tennis player Barnabas Kalaba has been awarded a four-year scholarship to train in the United States of America at Barton College in Kansas City.

Zambia Tennis Association President Gibson Phiri says Kalaba is expected to train with various professionals while in the USA.

Speaking to ZNBC Sports in an interview today, Phiri said the scholarship is an advantage for Zambia and goes to show how much effort the association is putting in to develop the sport in the country.

And Phiri has also disclosed that former under 25 champion Jacob Silungwe has donated 25 rackets and various sports equipment to the association.

Phiri said Silungwe, who is currently based in the US, remains committed to seeing the sport grow in the country.

He said the equipment will be distributed to various tennis clubs among them Kafue, Chipata and Lusaka.
