By Etambuyu Katota-Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Jackson Miti has commended the Irish Government for rendering support towards Zambia’s economic growth.

Major General Miti says Ireland supports a number of developmental projects in Lusaka and Northern Provinces.

He says the investment in faith-based organisations for projects in Education and Health is yielding positive results in the fight against HIV and AIDS, Gender Based Violence, water and sanitation and nutrition.

General Miti says the year 2020 marks 40 years of strong and stable diplomatic ties between Zambia and Ireland.

He was speaking when Irish Ambassador to South Africa Fionnula Gilsenan paid a courtesy call on him at Zambia’s High Commission in Pretoria.

And Ms. Gilsenan said her Government is committed to increase economic investments in Zambia.

She said her government wants to grow trade and political relations between the two countries.

This is contained in a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka by First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Zambian High Commission in South Africa Naomi Nyawali.
