ZAMBIA RATIFY ACFTA BEFORE DECEMBER 5,2020

 

By Ruth Chayinda-Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary Mushuma Mulenga says Zambia will ratify the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement before 5th December this year.

Mr. Mulenga says all the 55 countries are expected to ratify the agreement by 5th December to enable the start of trading by 1st January 2021.

He said this during a virtual meeting with various stakeholders to give an update on the progress made on the negotiations of the Free Trade Area.

Mr. Mulenga said Zambia has already signed the framework agreement but has not yet deposited the instrument of ratification.

He disclosed that so far, 28 countries have deposited their instruments of ratification of the agreement.

Mr. Mulenga said the country has already made progress in the process.
