Malawi U23 national team coach Meke Mwase believes Zambia is ‘lucky’ to have a number of players playing their trade outside the country as they have a better and higher understanding of the game.

Mwase was speaking during the pre-match press conference on Saturday. Coach Beston Chambeshi summoned five foreign based players for the duel against Malawi.

Austrian duo of Striker Patson Daka and midfield ace Enock Mwepu, KV Oostende forward Fashion Sakala, Emmanuel Banda of AS Beziers in France and Portugal based  Bonny Muchindu are the five summoned.

” Zambia is lucky because they have those players playing abroad us we don’t have any. The understanding is different and a bit higher but like I said earlier its a game of football anything is possible, ” he said.

Mwase also believes playing away in this afternoons encounter will help his team as they will have no pressure from fans.

” Sometimes playing at home there is a lot of pressure but when we travel to play away the boys have no pressure and play their game freely,” he said.

The Malawi gaffer also asked the Malawian FA to keep the team should they fail to beat Zambia as he feels they are a good side and the future of the senior flames side.

” I still feel that we have a very good strong team (U23 Malawi). I think that’s the future for Malawi National team I would like to the FA to keep this team and we can see the way forward,” Mwase said.

Zambia and Malawi will take to the field at 15:00hrs today with the winner over two legs set to book a date with either Burundi or Congo Brazzaville.
