ZAMBIA IN RECORD MAIZE, SOYA BUMPER HARVEST

(NAIS ) Zambian has recorded the highest ever maize and soya-bean harvest, from the 2020-2021 farming season.

The country has recorded over 3 point 6 million metric tonnes of maize harvest, up from 3 point 3 million tonnes, from the previous season.

Agriculture Minister, Michael Katambo announced the 7 per cent increase in maize production today in Lusaka, when giving the 2020-2021 farming season crop forecast survey results.

Mr. Katambo also said soya-bean production is expected to increase to over 4-hundred and 11-thousand metric tonnes, up from the previous 2-hundred and 96-thousand tonnes.

The Minister has since described the harvest as the highest in the history of Zambia’s agriculture sector.

Mr. Katambo has attributed this to early delivery of inputs, coupled with the good rains and a general trend by farmers to adopt good agricultural practices.
