Zambia Begin U16 Journey against Georgia

The Zambia U16 National Team take on Georgia to open their UEFA Under-16 Four-Nation International Development Tournament at the GF Football Academy in Georgia.

The team, formed after the nationwide trials for the under-16 category, has a chance to start the tournament on a winning note against the European campaigners.

Coach Aaron Kawangu has 20 players to pick from for this afternoon’s assignment kicking off at 17h00 local time (15h00CAT). Martin Chulu and Jeyhro Zulu will fight for the goalkeeping position while in defence, David Hamansenya, John Silwimba, Kampamba Kunda and Sekanji Siame may start at the back.

Selecting the team’s best midfield may prove to be a headache with the creative Kelvin Phiri, Abraham Soko Mumbi, Aaron Mbemba, Samson Malaya, Emmanuel Mutale and Gift Siame tormenting their teammates during training.

Upfront, Mizhi Mawaya, Aaron Simpasa and Emmanuel Mwanza could be given a start.

The round-robin tournament has been reduced to three nations after Saudi Arabia failed to make it on time, meaning Zambia’s only other schedule will see them taking on Azerbaijan on Friday 13 May.
