By Lomphande Muzumi /Balewa Zyuulu
The Zambia Consumer Association –ZACA- has asked state-owned power utility, ZESCO to suspend the proposed increment on ZESCO tariffs.
ZACA Executive Secretary Juba Sakala says consumers will suffer more expenses if the increase in tariffs goes ahead as they are already struggling with acquiring other sources of energy due to the current load shedding.
Mr. Sakala tells Phoenix News that tariff increment will further choke consumers especially small businesses without the capacity to find other alternative sources of energy.
Yesterday, Energy Minister Matthew Nkhuwa told Journalists that government is pondering on increasing electricity tariffs by 75 percent.
