Women League: Yasa, GBFC look to maintain unbeaten runs
FAZ Women’s League Lusaka region enters week nine as Red Arrows and Nkwazi go head to head while YASA , GBFC aim to maintain unbeaten runs
FAZ Women’s League Lusaka Region enters week 9 this weekend with interesting fixtures expected to take centre stage across Lusaka Province.
Second Placed Yasa Queens who are just 2 points away from log leaders Green Buffaloes welcome one of the whipping girls in the league, Lusaka Queens who have just 3 points to their name while Log leaders Green Buffaloes host The Milk Girls – Pamalat at Arakan Barrack Ground Whereas Third Placed Red Arrows who are 3 points away from Green Buffaloes face a tricky Nkwazi side away from home.
Bauleni United Sports Academy will host Kafue Cranes who are bubbling with confidence coming from a midweek win against Lusaka Queens in a rescheduled week 6 match played in kafue. In other matches, The Parliamentarians will be at home against Chiparamba Breakthrough Sports Academy while the Enterprising debutants in the league Luyando Foundation will host an Experienced ZNS sponsored outfit Green Eagles at Kanyama Football Ground .
YASA V LUSAKA QUEENS
Yasa Queens mean serious business this time around and will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run as they host a struggling Lusaka Queens side who have collected nothing in their last 4 matches and whose recent defeat was a few days ago when they lost 2 – 1 away to Kafue Cranes in a midweek rescheduled week 6 game.
On the other hand Yasa are confident going into this encounter as they boast of not losing a match in as many games as they have played so far and will count on the services of Rhoda Nakanyika, Rosemary Nyirongo and attacking pair of Florence Kasonde and Christine Nyirongo who scored a brace and a goal respectively the past weekend against Luyando Foundation. While Lusaka Queens will hope Ruth Phiri rises to the occasion. Yasa has a chance to go top of the league if they collect maximum points provided Green Buffaloes fail to beat Pamalat Girls. A win for Lusaka Queens will take them to 6 points equal with Chiparamba who face an uphill battle against National Assembly.
Prediction : YASA 4 – 0 LUSAKA QUEENS
GREEN BUFFALOES V PAMALAT
Log Leaders Green Buffaloes will be hoping to consolidate their top position as they welcome Pamalat Girls who are coming from a 2 – 1 loss at the hands of National Assembly. Pamalat have only failed to find the back of the net twice thus far in the league, against Red Arrows and YASA so this should tell us that they are a good side interms of scoring abilities but coming up against the defending champions will be a tall order for Pamalat and a win for them would be shocking to the Soldiers.
Green Buffaloes have always been consistent without a draw or a loss and this could just be an easy one for them. With the Greens Head coach Charles Haalubono away in Spain undertaking other assignments, the onus will be on his assistants the likes Of Beauty Mwamba,Liwilu Lubinda And Carol Kanyemba who will have to make sure coach Halubono’s absence doesn’t affect the team’s performance. Pamalat will be hoping to pull up a surprise which is very difficult against the Greens.
Prediction : GREEN BUFFALOES 5 – 2 PAMALAT
NKWAZI QUEENS V RED ARROWS WOMEN FOOTBALL CLUB
This is with no doubt the game of the weekend and there is a lot that is expected from this encounter. Nkwazi are a hard nut to crack at their backyard only YASA has managed to beat them at home and would not want another home loss.
On the other hand Red Arrows are a free Scoring side and be it home or away to them doesn’t matter and have been scoring goals for fun and would want to carry on from that perspective. Red Arrows have the second best defence line because have only conceded once this was in their 1 – 0 loss against Green Buffaloes who are yet to concede a goal.
A win for Nkwazi will take them to 13 points 8 behind The Air Women though they have a game in hand against Olympic Flying Queens. Whereas, a win for Arrows will take them to 23 points. Both teams will be looking forward to collecting maximum points which makes this tie even more interesting.
Prediction : Nkwazi 2 – 2 RED ARROWS
BAULENI UNITED SPORTS ACADEMY V KAFUE CRANES
This is an interesting game to look out for because it’s a winner takes it all above the other in terms of the log standings. As things stand both teams are on 10 points only separated by goal difference. The cranes are coming from a midweek victory against Lusaka Queens and will be hoping to carry on from that win as they take on a determined Bauleni side who will be looking forward to utilize their home ground advantage.
Bauleni hasn’t been very impressive this season but won’t leave anything to chance against the Cranes and would want to collect maximum points. This is going to be a 50 – 50 kind of affair very difficult to predict too.
Prediction : BAULENI UNITED SPORTS ACADEMY 1 – 0 KAFUE CRANES
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY V CHIPARAMBA BREAKTHROUGH SPORTS ACADEMY
National Assembly and Chiparamba Breakthrough Sports Academy are occupying position 5 and 11 with 15 and 6 points respectively with the latter having a game in hand against Pamalat. The Parliamentarians are favorite to win this match looking at the caliber of players they have as well as their performance thus far in the league and will have it easy against Chiparamba who have to find their rhythm and winning formula before it is too late. It’s an easy one and 3 points for Assembly.
Prediction : NATIONAL ASSEMBLY 3 – 0 CHIPARAMBA BREAKTHROUGH
LUYANDO FOUNDATION V GREEN EAGLES
This is a game involving league debutants Luyando Foundation locking horns with the experienced Green Eagles slated for Sunday morning at Kanyama Football Ground. Luyando could be new in the league but that has not affected their style of play in any way. They play some of the most entertaining football in the league but welcoming Green Eagles won’t be an easy one for them.
Green eagles has not lost in their last 3 games while Luyando has not pocketed any point in their last 2 games since beating Olympic Flying Queens 5 – 0. The Eagle’s biggest win so far was against Chiparamba silencing them 10 – 0. But this should not worry The Foundations as they have showed a good fighting spirit in every game they play hopefully they can come out victorious but am afraid The Eagles will just be too strong for the enterprising Luyando Foundation.
Prediction : LUYANDO FOUNDATION 1 – 4 GREEN EAGLES
N.B: ONLY THE LUYANDO FOUNDATION AGAINST GREEN EAGLES MATCH WILL BE PLAYED ON SUNDAY 21-04-2019 THE REST ARE ON SATURDAY 20-04-2019, ALL GAMES ARE SCHEDULED TO KICK OFF AT 10.00HRS UNLESS OTHERWISE.
