WOAH ENDORSES ZAMBIA’S RABIES CONTROL PROGRAMME

The World Organisation for Animal Health has endorsed Zambia’s official control programme for dog mediated rabies.

Zambia was given a certificate of recognition for dog mediated rabies that seeks to eradicate dog rabies in the country by 2030.

This was during the 90th World Organisation for Animal Health in France.

And, speaking on the side-lines of the General Assembly, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Director Veterinary Services, GEOFFREY MUUKA said the certificate of recognition awarded to Zambia is a great start for the country to eradicate dog mediated rabies by 2030.

Dr MUUKA said the Ministry, in collaboration with the local authority and traditional leaders, will ensure that the strategy is implemented effectively in controlling dog mediated rabies in Zambia.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC news by the Zambia’s First Secretary Press and Public Relations in France NAOMI MWEEMBA.
