Who Calls For Implementation Of Cholera Elimination Plan

The World Health Organization-WHO- says Zambia should fully implement the multi-facet cholera elimination plan if the cholera epidemic is to be completely eliminated.

WHO Country Representative Nathan Bakyaita notes that Zambia has scored a mark in ensuring there is no cholera outbreak in the 2019/2020 rain season but however says there is need to deal with risk factors.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bakyaita has charged that last year’s massive cholera vaccination campaign conducted in an effort to curb the outbreak of the disease could be the reason the country has not recorded any cholera case this far.

About 578,000 people were vaccinated with the oral cholera vaccine conducted by the ministry of health in partnership with the WHO last year.
