Zambia coach Bruce Mwape believes the Copper Queens are ‘almost at the same level’ with Paris 2024 Olympics opponents.
The African giants are in the same group with USA, Australia and Germany.
“For us to be in that group it means we are almost at the same level,” Mwape said
There has been concerns with gulf between Africa’s no.4 ranked team and some of the tournament’s favourites side huge.
“Even the players have the experience and don’t even concentrate on what people are saying. All we want is to focus on the games.“
In 2020 at the Tokyo Olympics, the Copper Queens won plaudits for their breaking taking counter attacking football.
Although Zambia scored 8 goals in three group matches, they were naive and porous at back as they conceded 15 ( 4-4 v China, 10-3 defeat v Netherlands and 1-0 defeat v Brazil).
