WATER UTILITIES TOLD NOT TO CUT SUPPLY FOR UNPAID BILLS

By Katwishi Bwalya-Government has directed water utility companies not to disconnect water to residents that have unpaid water bills.

Water Development Minister Raphael Nakachinda says in view of the second wave of Covid 19 it is necessary that people have uninterrupted access to clean water.

Mr Nakachinda said water is an important commodity in the fight against Covid 19.

The Minister was speaking after touring Mulonga water and Sanitation company facilities in Chingola and Chililabombwe.

And Mr Nakachinda is concerned with the rampant vandalism on water facilities that are costing huge sums of money.

And Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company Managing Director Reuben Kaira informed the minister of rampant vandalism to water infrastructure.

He also said his company has started upgrading water infrastructure to improve water supply.
