Water Aid urges govt to upgrade shanties

vlcsnap-2018-08-09-08h38m06s986Water Aid Communications Officer, Isabel Mukelebai has noted the urgent need for government to upgrade some unplanned settlements in order to improve the supply of quality water to the citizens.

And Ms.Mukelabai believes that by upgrading some unplanned settlements, the water utility firms will be mandated to supply potable water to these areas.

She has told Q-news in an interview that there is need for government and the Lusaka city council to bring to an end the mushrooming of shanty compounds because they adversely impede effective service delivery to people.

Ms Mukelabai has called for a strong monitoring mechanism by the Lusaka city council so that the infrastructure being put in place in various areas conforms to the Lusaka master plan.
