WARMA Warns Of Another Possible Cholera Outbreak In Ndola

By Tinkerbel Mwila

The Water Resources Management Authority-WARMA- says there is a high possibility that Cholera may resurface in Ndola district of the Copperbelt.

In an interview with Phoenix News, WARMA Acting Director General Ken Nyundu says a Cholera outbreak cannot be ruled out after people have built in river channels and discharging raw sewer into the streams.

Mr Nyundu says the authority will move in to curb the potential sources of cholera outbreak which has been identified as the raw sewer that is discharged in the rivers where some residents draw water for consumption.

Further, Mr Nyundu is concerned that most sceptic tanks are already full and no longer operational leading to residents opting to use nearby rivers or streams for relief.
