Wada tips Chipolopolo to win COSAFA

Former Zambia national team coach Wedson ‘Wada Wada’ Nyirenda has tipped the Chipolopolo boys to win the 2019 COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup. Nyirenda was speaking watching a mid morning training session at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban.

Nyirenda believes the Copper Bullets have a good chance of clinching the title at this years tournament. The Baroka FC coach feels the fact that Zambia last won the competition in 2013 has fuelled the hunger to win it this year.

“I think we have good chances to get this cup and for the fact it has eluded us for some time it makes us hungry to get it,” He said.

Nyirenda holds Zambia’s quarter final opponents Malawi in high esteem and believes the youthful side has a point to prove. He is however confident that the Chipolopolo boys assembled by Numba and Chiyangi are good enough to go all the way.

” I have seen the teams that have been playing so far in this tournament, Malawi has been looking good, They are quick and have young boys who want to prove. However looking at the team that coach Aggrey with Numba have assembled we look set to do wonders for Zambia this year,” Nyirenda said.

The Copper Bullets will enter the on going tournament at the quarter final stage with a crucial tie against Malawi on Sunday at the Princess Magogo stadiun.

Zambia will be aiming to win their fifth COSAFA title having failed to do saw in the last two competitions despite reaching the final on both occasions losing to both times to Zimbabwe 3-1 in 2017 and 4-2 in 2018.
