Two more suspected cases of Cholera have been detected in Vubwi District.

Zambia National Public Health Institute – ZNHPI Director General ROMA CHILENGI says as of today, the country still has 4 confirmed cases of Cholera and one death.

Professor CHILENGI says Mwansabombwe District has also reported suspected cases but however no case has been confirmed.

He says an incident management system has been triggered and a 72 hour contingency plan is in place.

Professor CHILENGI says health professionals have been deployed and training is being conducted on how to handle cases.

He says surveillance has been heightened, water sources mapped while contact tracing is being made.

Speaking during the ZNBC Midday News, Professor CHILENGI said chlorine is also being provided for drinking water.

And Local Government Permanent Secretary Administration MAAMBO HAAMAUNDU has called on citizens to give priority to Sanitation and clean up their areas.

Mr. HAAMAUNDU said Cholera is a deadly disease that requires the correct action to be applied.

He said weeks ago Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO had made an alert on the possibility of a Cholera outbreak hence an engagement with stakeholders to have street vendors moved to designated trading areas.
