VUBWI MAN GETS 45 YEARS FOR DEFILING TWO CHILDREN

A 48-year-old man of Vubwi district in Eastern Province has been sentenced to 45 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling two minors aged 8 and 6.

Before Chipata High Court resident Judge MERCY MAKUBALO was DAISON MWALE who was committed to the High Court for sentencing by the Vubwi Magistrates Court.

Judge MAKUBALO slapped MWALE with a 45-year sentence in each of the two counts that will run concurrently.

According to facts, MWALE committed the crime on February 8, 2022 and one of the victims was his step grandchild.

MWALE warned the two minor that they will be whipped if they tell anyone about the matter.

He also promised to buy them snacks.

In passing judgment, Judge MAKUBALO expressed concern at the high rate of sexual offences.
