Vital wins for Mweene, Mulenga in CAF Champions League

Two Zambian players abroad were involved in the CAF Champions League group stage games on Saturday.

Zambian legendary goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene got a rare start for Mamelodi Sundowns in place of the injured Dennis Onyango.

Mweene’s gave a man of the match performances as he kept Egyptian side Al Ahly at bay with world class saves.

Sundowns’ won the match 1-0 in what has been termed as a ‘historical win’ by the South African press.

Al Ahly are coached by South Africa’s Pitso Mosimane

Augustine Mulenga’s Amazulu beat Tunisian side ES Setif 1-0 to record back to back victories to the delight of coach Benni McCarthy.

Amazulu are second in Group B on six points, three points behind Morrocan giants Raja Casablanca after three rounds of matches.
