FOUR suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres have been apprehended in Luwingu for allegedly damaging a vehicle belonging to the Patriotic Front.
Northern Province Police Commissioner Richard Mweene confirmed the arrest of the UPND cadres whom he identified as party district chairperson Simon Kalebwe, 42, Kennedy Katuta, 43, Kapya Katumbili, 43, and Geoffrey Mulenga, 25. Mr Mweene said the quartet, together with other persons unknown, allegedly attacked the Patriotic Front cadres who were campaigning in Nsombo village in Chief Chabula’s area.
Mr Mweene appealed to cadres from both the PF and the opposition to learn to solve problems amicably instead of fighting.
He said the suspects were remanded in custody awaiting court proceedings.
