Veteran broadcaster Ben Kangwa put to rest

vlcsnap-5338-12-01-21h47m19s349Veteran Broadcaster and Former Zambia’s Deputy Ambassador to the United States of America Ben Kangwa has been put to rest.

Mr. Kangwa ,63, joined ZNBC in the 70s where he worked for many years and rose to the rank of director of programmes.

Mr. Kangwa had full electronic and print media career, having worked in both radio and television at the zambia national broadcasting corporation (ZNBC) for a period spanning 25 years and rising to the position of director of programs. He was responsible for the running of radio, television, news, the core business of broadcasting.

Mr Kangwa served on several professional boards such as the Evelyn Hone College School of journalism department advisory committee, the Zambia Business Coalition on Hiv/Aids, the Yatsani Catholic Radio Station, Zambezi fm in Livingstone, the salvation army and the keep Lusaka clean campaign committee.

This morning hundreds of people gathered at the Makeni Catholic Church to bid farewell to Veteran Broadcaster Ben Kangwa.

Speaking during the church service, Veteran Broadcaster Frank Mutubila observes the need to honour those that have worked for the nation whilst they are living.

And parish priest Krzysztof Mroz has urged other journalists in Zambia to uphold their integrity and contribute to the work of god through their work.

Meanwhile the Catholic Media Services (CMs) and the entire catholic communications and media fraternity have expressed sadness at the passing on of Mr. Kangwa.

In statement to QTV news Zambia conference of catholic bishops communications director Fr. Winfield Kunda says Mr. Kangwa’s  death is a great loss to the church especially that Mr. Kangwa continued to be instrumental in the communication ministry of the catholic church in Zambia.

Fr. Kunda says that even in his death the catholic church will still celebrate Mr. Kangwa’s contribution towards the growth of the media in the local church.

He explains that Mr. Kangwa was key in the initial days of Radio Maria Yatsani Voice by training volunteer media workers who have continued to make strides in many media houses across the country.
