By ZANIS:Vice President Inonge Wina has assured flood victims in Muchinga province that government will support them.Mrs. Wina says the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- will ensure that all affected households are provided with urgent aid.She lamented that the effects of floods on the 1 point 5 million people calls for urgent government attention.Mrs. Wina said this when she called on Senior Chief Nkula of the Bemba people in Chinsali after taking an aerial view of the flood situation.The Vice President has since urged affected people to move to higher land in order to avoid a repeat of the situation in the next rain season.She also said the number of farmers affected by the disaster is alarming.And Senior Chief Nkula has praised Mrs. Wina for taking time to check on the flood situation adding that her visit showed great leadership on the part of government.The Chief has since urged the affected people to remain calm as government is working tirelessly to provide aid to them.Muchinga Province Minister Malozo Sichone said about 10 thousand households have been affected by floods in the region.Mr. Sichone named Chama, Kanchibiya, Chinsali, Isoka and Mafinga as areas that have been badly hit by floods.
