USA TO GIVE ZAMBIA $400M FOR HIV FIGHT

THE US government will give Zambia close to $400 million under Corps 2018 to prevent and control HIV in the country, Health Minister, Dr Chitalu Chilufya said in Ndola yesterday.
He was Speaking during the launch of the 2018 Country Operational Plan and Commissioning of Kantolomba pre-fabricated clinic in Ndola.
Dr Chilufya said the money would ensure the establishment of robust health posts in the country.
He urged health workers to prudently utilise money for its intended activities that would deliver the 90-90-90 goals.
And speaking at the same event, US Ambassador to Zambia Daniel Foote said he was delighted to support Zambia in reaching the HIV epidemic control by 2020.
Meanwhile, US deputy Global Aids coordinator Dr  Mamadi Yilla said PEPFAR would in the upcoming months invest $1.2 billion globally to expand the diagnosis and treatment of HIV in men aged 24 to 35.
