US Ambassador Gonzales Presents Credentials to COMESA
(ZANIS) The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa -COMESA- says it places a lot of value on cooperation and partnership with the United States Government in fostering intra-trade within the regional block.
COMESA Secretary General, CHILESHE KAPWEPWE says partnerships with the US is key for the 21 COMESA member states.
Ms. KAPWEPWE was speaking when United States Ambassador to Zambia, MICHAEL GONZALES presented his credentials to COMESA as he assumed his role as special representative of the US to COMESA in Lusaka yesterday.
And Mr. GONZALES says the US government will continue to support COMESA in its endeavor to increase trade and investment in order to improve food security among member states.
He explains that since 1998 the US has invested more than 226-million dollars to strengthen COMESA’s capacity to boost regional integration in its 21 member states.
