Chikankata (06-08-18) Opposition United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) has continued to mobilise its people in readiness for the 2021 presidential and general elections.

Party spokesperson Francis Kope said his party on Monday attractedscores of people that gathered in Chikankata along with over 15 headmen to hear the message of hope from the party to leadership.

During the interaction with the people, Kope explained, the party was informed of the a numerous challenges the people of Chikankata are facing.

Among the issues brought to the attention of the UPPZ authority was poor road network, increased number cattle diseases which has continued to claim the cattle in the area and lack of health facilities in the area.

Kope said the party sympathised with numerous challenges the people of Chikankata are going through.

We were particularly concerned with the number of cattle dying in the area.”

Kope added that the death of cattle is a great loss for the people in southern province because the animals people own constitute their identity.

As a matter of urgency, Kope explained, the UPPZ immediately donated 30 litres deep chemical at the cost of K830.

We asked the people to manage with the quantity for the time being as the party mobilise the funds to buy more chemicals to disinfect the animals.”

Kope also told the people that the UPPZ is working round the clock to raise funds to mend the potholes on the major roads in the district.

On the complaint of dilapidated shelters at the only local health centre, Kope said the party president Mr Charles Chanda had gone with experts to see how best the hospital can be renovated and the possibility of putting an alternative clinic at the nearby school at Malawo.

Regrettably, the government could not allow Mr. Chanda to either renovate the clinic nor build a new clinic at Malawo school to assist hundreds of people in the area to access health facilities nearby.

He said the UPPZ had donated 100 bags of cement which was to go towards renovating the clinic in the area but the donation was turned down.

He said UPPZ is committed to working for the needy Communities across the country and will not wait until it forms government to act save that the government of the day is not cooperating with people of good will to bring development where it is needed.

Unlike other parties that only make promises during campaigns and do nothing, Kope said the UPPZ will not be derailed in it’s national wide agenda to help the needy communities.

When the people requested for a clinic in Malawo, Kope said, Chanda acted but the for some reasons the government through it’s agents from the District Education Board Secretaries (DEBS) stopped him.

Since the donation still stands, Kope suggested, the donated cements will be given to church to continue with his mission of addressing concerns the people raised to him by the people in the area.

Since the government does not want the UPPZ to build the hospital, Kope further suggested the church on behalf of UPPZ will come to the aid of the people.

He said the UPPZ is an action oriented party and will always act for the people no matter what comes on it’s way.

He urged the people to reciprocate the assistance his party was rendering to the people in needy.

Through this mutual assistance, Kope said the areas will continue to see development which they have craved for a very long.

The UPPZ has lined up several programs, including back to school program all aimed at alleviating the suffering among the people of Southern province.

He invited the people in the area with children who stopped going to school to register for the programs so that their children can go back to school immediately.

The UPPZ also has programs which will help to grow the agriculture in the area.

For example Kope said the e-voucher introduced by the government has lamentably failed to work in the area because it was only on papers.”

He further indicated to the people that, the government has failed to provide market for the farm produce.

He said so many things happened in southern province which affected the lives of the people but the government has not moved to address their concern.

For example, Kope said Chanda is aware that, the people of southern province had their animals killed with foot and mouth corridor diseases but the government had never considered to compensate the people.

The UPPZ has plans of finding a way in which the people who lost the animals could be empowered so that they can become well again.”

He also assured the people that UPPZ has in minds some plans are being work to assist the people when their is crop failure due to drought.

He said the issue of potholes on the roads will be addressed before the next farming seasons begin.

And chief representative thanked the UPPZ for taking an initiative to help the people in the area.

Headman Lweko said in an exclusive interview that he has never seen a dedicated politician like Chanda who is willing to work for the people even before he is voted into office.

He said undisclosed number of politicians have visited in the area but not one has done what Chanda has done for his people within the short period of time.

He assured the UPPZ team that Chanda has the support of the people in the area and will do everything possible to ensure that his dream is fulfilled.
