UPND wants contents of approved ATI Bill published

The Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says government in particular the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services should publicize the content of the approved Access to Information Bill before it is taken to Parliament.

UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma says this will enable members of the public to scrutinize the Bill before it is taken to Parliament.

He has told Q-news that in the absence of the publication of this bill, it is difficult for people to appreciate its content.

Mr. Kakoma laments that the bill has taken successive governments more than 16-years of consultations to be presented to cabinet.

On Monday, Information and Broadcasting Services Minister and Chief Government Minister Dora Siliya disclosed in a post on twitter that Cabinet has approved the Access to Information Bill.
