UPND Picks UNZA Don for Kasenengwa Race

The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has settled for University of Zambia don Dr Faustina Banda as their candidate for the September 6 Kasenengwa parliamentary by-election.

Party deputy secretary general Patrick Mucheleka unveiled the candidate who will come against the ruling Patriotic Front’s Sensio Banda.

Dr Banda is currently Head of the Geometric Engineering department at UNZA.

Nominations for the Kasenengwa seat have been set for Thursday August 9 at Chikungu Primary School.

The PF candidate was a candidate on the Rainbow Party ticket in 2016 in the same constituency and is the favourite to win the poll.

Chipangali Member of Parliament Vincent Mwale is Banda’s campaign manager and would be deputized by Sinda independent lawmaker Masautso ‘Kazungula’ Tembo and his Nyimba counterpart Olipa Phiri

The Kasenengwa seat fell vacant following the death of Victoria Kalima.
