The United Party for National Development- UPND is expected to address a rally at Kanyama’s Twashuka grounds just after the lift of the ban by Electoral Commission Zambia on Monday, July 18th 2016.

The rally which is scheduled on Tuesday, July 19th is the party’s maiden event after the resume of campaigns which were put on halt after a series of violence and a subsequent death of a UPND sympathizer Mapenzi Chibulo on Friday, 8th July 2016.

Meanwhile UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has appealed to the nation to conduct  violence free campaigns in the remain three weeks before the general elections.

“As the campaign suspension is lifted in Lusaka and Namwala we want to get back to talking about the issues. Our appeal is for the final three weeks of the campaign to be 100% violence-free and for the focus to be on discussing the challenges and opportunities we face as a nation and debating the best way to move forward. The message we have been delivering as we travel the country is that we know the hardship our people are now facing daily because of the PF’s mismanagement of the economy and President Lungu’s failure to provide strong and visionary leadership. We are ready to fix it.” Hakainde said in a statement.

And ECZ Public Relations Officer Chris Akafuna said if political party’s will continue perpetrating violence. The Commission will in instead disqualify candidates of the named political party.

The ECZ had earlier banned campaigns in Lusaka and Namwala for 10 days
