UPDATE: Government to Airlift on Sunday, the Remains of Zambians Who Died in South Africa

MINISTER of Foreign Affairs Hon Joseph Malanji says His Excellency, President Edgar Chagwa Lungu was saddened by the fatal bus accident which occurred in Limpopo, South Africa where eleven (11) Zambians perished.And Hon Malanji says considering the number of people that were lost, government has since offered to air-lift all the deceased bodies straight to Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport on Sunday in Ndola in readiness for burial.Hon Malanji has further disclosed that two (2) of the deceased bodies will be brought to Lusaka where the families were.Speaking when he addressed the media at his Office today, the Foreign Affairs Minister took the opportunity to inform family members of the deceased and friends that arrangements for burial can only be made starting on Monday, September 24.“Considering the number of fatalities, government has decided to send a plane to go and pick the bodies and bring them straight to Ndola of which from the eleven, two of them will be brought to Lusaka where the families are,” Hon Malanji stated.“Due to the overwhelming task that the medical staff in South Africa have to embalm the bodies, government will only be able to fly in the deceased bodies on Sunday.And as such, arrangements to have burial take place will only start on Monday, 24th September, 2018,” he added.The deceased in the Royal Bus Accident in Mokopane, Limpopo Province;Mildred KachindaSilvier C.M.
