UNZA Dismantles K23m in Debts Owed to Retirees

The University of Zambia-UNZA has dismantled over 23 million Kwacha in  debts owed to retirees.UNZA has on the other hand recorded 22 percent increase in the number of graduates this year, compared to last year.The institution has this year produced over 7,000 graduates in Doctor of Philosophy, Master’s Degree, Undergraduate Degree, Diploma and Certificate in various faculties.This came to light in Lusaka today during the Second Session of UNZA’s Forty Eighth Graduation Ceremony.At the function UNZA Chancellor Jacob Mwanza  bemoaned the low levels of graduates in the Doctor of Philosophy Category.Dr Mwanza observed that UNZA, a leading University in Zambia must step up measures to churn out more Doctor of Philosophy Graduates.And UNZA Vice Chancellor Luke Mumba said UNZA is grappling with financial challenges.Professor Mumba however said the institution has so far implemented various projects to improve its financial status.Moving a vote of thanks, Francis Mwansa, a Master’s Degree graduate in Epidemiology  thanked UNZA Management, lecturers and other members of staff for their mentorship to the graduates.
