University of Zambia suspends classes, mourns Vespers Shimuzhila

CLASSES at the University of Zambia were suspended yesterday for a befitting memorial service for Vespers Shimuzhila, a fourth year student, with three months to her graduation, died in her room due to suffocation after Police officers allegedly threw teargas canisters in it.“This serves to advise that there will be no classes for students for two days effective Monday 8th October 2018 and Tuesday 9th October 2018. However members of staff are expecting to continue working,” read the memo issued by the university management.Vespers, will be buried in Namwala. She is survived by her parents as she was their only child.Another student Everntyn Chongo, has been evacuated to South Africa for specialist treatment, after she damaged her spine and broke both legs as she jumped from the third floor of her hostel which was on fire.(Picture by Kalemba) Post Views: 3
