Uganda cubs to train at National Heroes Stadium

The Uganda U17 Women’s National Team will train at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The East Africans arrived safely at Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Friday.

The Cubs will face the highly rated Copper Princesses in the first leg of the 3rd round FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifier against Zambia on Sunday at the National Heroes Stadium.

It is the first time a junior women’s international match will be played at the magnificent 60,000 capacity.

Uganda Women’s U17 head coach Sheryl Botes is confident her cubs will deliver on Sunday in a 12:30 kickoff.

“We’ve had a good run in our preparations and I am pleased with the commitment and progress shown by the players,” she said.

“The friendly matches have been beneficial in evaluating our strengths and areas for improvement,” she added.

The East African will then host Zambia five days later at Kitende’s St Mary’s Stadium.

The winner between Morocco and Algeria will face either Zambia or Uganda.
