TWO SHOT DEAD FOR TRESPASSING IN LUMWANA MINE

TWPolice in Kalumbila are investigating a case in which two people were allegedly shot dead by five Department of National Parks -officers for trespassing in Lumwana mine restricted area for the purpose of poaching.

Police Deputy Spokesperson, DANNY MWALE has identified the deceased as ZOLANI SUMBULA, aged 41, of Lubinga village in Kalumbila District and TREVOR SHIMISHI, aged 35, of Shimishi village in Ikelenge District who was visiting Lubinga village.

Mr MWALE says five officers from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, Solwezi office, have been nabbed for murder and are in police custody.

Mr MWALE says investigations are still being on-going.

And our staffer LUPINDULA MWEWA reports that Solwezi West Member of Parliament NICHOLAS MUKUMBI revealed that the bodies of the deceased were discovered after one of the mine officers who was part of the patrol tipped the Police.
