A LONE gunman in Choma has shot dead a local business executive, Jose Kambeu, and a 17-year-old boy identified as Gift Silungwe.
Southern Province police chief Godwin Phiri said Mr Kambeu, popularly known as ‘Panadol’, and the teenager, were shot in unexplained circumstances in Chandamali Township.
Mr Phiri said the shooting occurred on Tuesday evening when Mr Kambeu, 48, was shot by the unknown person.
Mr Phiri said the same person went on to shoot Silungwe, 17, in the chest who was also in the shop at the time when the incident happened.
“In the same township, one male juvenile was shot in the chest in unclear circumstances and was pronounced dead upon reaching the hospital,” he said.
He said no arrest had been made and that the police had launched investigations into the matter.
Some eye-witnesses said the gunman, who was dressed in military attire, entered the deceased’s shop and shot him together with Silungwe who was also in the shop.
“We saw a man in a military uniform enter the shop and did not suspect anything; we thought he wanted to buy something in the shop, but to our surprise we heard two gun shots,” said one of the eye-witnesses.
