A Lawyer has urged government to stand firm and not succumb to mining companies’ threats of job cuts as a result of the new tax system.
Tutwa Ngulube says mining firms should pay their fair share of taxes just like any other entity.
Mr. Ngulube said it is immoral for some mining firms to use workers as bargaining tools.
He told ZNBC News that mining companies that are not ready to operate in the country should willingly surrender their companies so that government can find other investors.
Mr. Ngulube has also appealed to Zambian scholars who have been complaining that the country is not benefiting from its minerals to support governments stance.
