TRUCK DRIVERS URGED TO BE CAUTIOUS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Major General Jackson Miti has urged Zambian truck drivers to be cautious as they travel to South Africa.

General Miti says this follows recent violent attacks on foreign drivers in some parts of that country.

He says South Africa recorded incidences of violent protests in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal Province, in which hundreds of locally engaged truck drivers protested the use of foreign truck drivers.

General Miti says Zambian drivers should ensure they are not caught in violent protests currently going on in some parts of South Africa.

He says the High Commission will continue monitoring the situation and advise accordingly.

General Miti says so far, no Zambian Truck driver has been affected by the ongoing protests.

This is contained in a statement made available to ZNBC news by First Secretary Press and Public Relations at Zambia’s High Commission in South Africa Naomi Nyawali.
