This week’s Uefa Champions League update

The Uefa Champions League is gaining momentum as teams try to earn their spot in the final 16. Teams are getting ready to square off in the last remaining Uefa Champions’ League group stage matches. The final match of the group stage will be a do or die match for those teams whose place in the Round of 16 have not yet been secured.

This week saw the match day 5 out of 6 taking place with some interesting results. Here are some of the matches that surprised and delighted football fans from around the globe. One of the shocking results came from the match between Shakhtar Donetsk from Ukraine vs. Real Madrid on Tuesday evening. Real Madrid now has a good chance of not progressing to the final 16. Fans were in for treat as Neymar helped secure Paris Saint-Germain’s win over Manchester United. The striker scored his second goal of the match in the 91st minute bringing the final score to 3-1 for PSG. PSG, Manchester United and RB Leipzig in group H are all level, heading into their last game of the group stage and a win for any one of the teams will take them through to the final 16. Barcelona kept their perfect run for the season by beating Ferencvaros 3-0 on Wednesday. Barcelona is now topping the table with 15 points, a three point lead over Juventus in group G, both team will progress to Round of 16. Chelsea beat Sevilla with 4 goals to zero to cement their spot in the last 16 teams; both teams have earned their spot in the Round of 16. Liverpool has also made sure that they will be competing in the last leg of the competition. Liverpool beat Ajax at Anfield with a score of 1-0. Ajax will be playing against Atalanta who is sitting on the second spot of group D, the team who wins the match will be qualifying to the Round of 16. Tuesday also saw Manchester City and Porto as the two top teams of group C drawing the match. Both teams have already advanced to the final stages of the Uefa Champions League Round of 16.
