Larry Bwalya famously is known as soft touch or ‘Not for sale’ among the Ndeke football faithful has become a household name at the Authur Davies, kitwe and Zambia at large for some years now.
His worth to the club goes deeper than some may think. He is extremely instrumental in the Power dynamos midfield and is always the architect of most of their goals.
The ZamFoot Crew now looks at some of his footballing traits that make the left-footed midfield genius so vital to Perry Mutapa’s side.
Orchestrator is the midfield
Larry Bwalya is a relatively small player but don’t let that fool you as he has had no problem adapting to the style of play in the Zambian super league since he came on the scene.
His intelligence and pure skill on the ball has allowed him to thrive for many years at Power Dynamos. Larry is the go-to guy for power dynamos in terms of transition from defense to attack as he possesses a footballing brain to make the right pass at the right time to the right player and almost always Abayellows forward attacks start with him.
Playmaker (Creator in chief)
He is Power Dynamos’ creator-in-chief, a player so comfortable in possession that he makes it look effortless and with such an unerring ability to find the right pass regardless of the time and space he has when on the ball.
Everything going forward goes through him and if one may not be so far off if they were to assume that Perry Mutapa at times should just tell his players to get the ball to him and he will know what to do with it.
Playing between the lines
Larry makes the game look effortless. He has a unique ability to float around a football pitch causing damage with his vision and passing ability.
He always a thorn in the opponent’s flesh but he probably at his most dangerous when he floats in space because he’s very capable of picking just the right pass in the final third.
Moments of brilliance (Big game player)
Larry by himself can win you a football match, his type of player that produces moments of magic with his left foot.
Power Dynamos being a possession-based team means a lot of the other clubs pack the bus but Larry is able to find his way around on the pitch because he is a player that picks the right pass in vital moments and scores the goals when need be.
Goals and Assists
Talk about being a complete number 10, Larry Bwalya is the definition of that and he produces vital goals and assists for Power dynamos every season.
He has emerged as one of the best players in the Zambia Superleague over the last few years.
His most memorable goals include the 2016 Charity shield final winning goal and the screamer against Nkana in the 2018 Kitwe derby played at Arthur Davies Stadium.
