TEACHER’s EXPECTATIONS
By ZANIS:
The Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia -BETUZ- has hailed President Hakainde Hichilema’s inaugural speech and hopes teachers’ aspirations will be achieved during his tenure.
Copperbelt Province BETUZ Deputy Director Justine Mtambo has told ZANIS in an interview in Ndola today that the union wants the issue of vindictiveness addressed.
Mr. Mtambo said extending a hand to those that were retired in national interest is a positive stride.
He said President Hichilema’s inaugural speech also touched on a number of teachers expectations and that the union is hopeful they will be fulfilled.
Mr. Mtambo added that there are over 55-thousand unemployed teachers across the country and the union wants to see more teachers employed in both primary and secondary schools.
He further appealed to the new government to improve the funding to schools which he said has been a thorny issue for decades.
