TBZ, HUAMEI SIGN MOU

Tobacco Board of Zambia -TBZ- and Huamei Zambia have signed an agreement that will see Huamei Zambia start buying tobacco from Farmers.

TBZ Chief Executive Officer James Kasongo says all farmers will be accorded an opportunity to sale there tobacco to Huamei Zambia.

Mr. Kasongo says the board is working round the clock to ensure all farmers sale their tobacco.

And Mr. Kasongo has disclosed that over 3-hundred thousand kilograms of tobacco has remained unsold while 36-million 4 hundred and 47 kilograms has been sold.

He says the move is what has prompted the deal with Huamei Zambia.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Mr. Kasongo also assured farmers to trust the board and allow it to do its job of ensuring that no tobacco remains unsold.

Meanwhile Huamei Zambia Managing Director Yinchang He said his company is ready to buy all the remaining tobacco from farmers.
