Tanzanian robbed of four million kwacha cash in Nakonde

A 63-year-old Tanzanian accountant has been attacked by armed criminals who have gone away with four million kwacha he was about to deposit at ABSA Bank in Nakonde District.
FORDSON MWANYANGALA, an accountant from Manyanya Group of Companies, was attacked yesterday, while in a taxi as he was being driven to the bank to deposit the money.
Mr. MWANYANGALA booked the taxi in the Tanzanian town of Tunduma and crossed into Zambia in order to deposit the money at the Bank.
Muchinga Province Police Deputy Commanding Officer RONALD ZAMBO has told ZNBC news in a statement that the taxi was blocked near Manyanya Complex by a Toyota Allion and later five men armed with two guns emerged and fired on the bonnet of the car.
Mr. ZAMBO said the criminals shot two people in the process and snatched two bags which contained the four million kwacha.
He said Police followed up the matter and recovered two AK 47 rifles and the Toyota Allion which was used in the robbery in Chozi Village.
Mr. ZAMBO said the two people who were shot during the robbery are admitted in Nakonde District Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
